Accents of English

The way English is spoken can be very different across the countries and even for native speakers UK accents and slang hard can be hard to understand. In most cases, we learn to british or american accent. But when we meet Irishman or Scotish, we feel surprised.
My favourite accent is Cockney-  cockney English refers to the accent or dialect of English traditionally spoken by working-class  in London.

And of course Scottish accent. Firstly, i've heard it in the film "Transportting" and i;ve fallen in love with Scottish Engilsh. The Scottish accent is a fun, but difficult accent to do properly. You need to be focused to understand everything.

These two accents are my favourite but of course there are many more. I've found a quite interesting video which includes most of accents

The one with my favourite tv show

Today i would like to share with you my favourite tv show- "Friends". It has more than 20 years old and still is the best show ever. The story line never gets boring for me-I can still watch episodes and laugh, as the situations are still relevant. I laugh and it doesn't matter if I have watched a particular episode once, twice, or a hundred times. The show is combined with its exceptional humor and  two of the greatest emotions we experience in our life : love and friendship. The characters ofFriends literally become your friends. Each character is very specific- they all have their own story and funny moments. Even Friends theme song is great! It’s difficult to point out a particular favorite episode of the show, since they were all so awesome! I've watched it when i was young so it also reminds me my childhood.
And here is the episode with French, enjoy! :D

English words that mean something else in other languages

"False friends" are words that seem to be the same but in fact have different meaning. These types of words can be confusing for both language learners and translators, but they can also be funny and interesting. In fact, it's very important to know these words if you don't want have a problems when you're abroad and you're speaking English.
For example:
complement("uzupełnienie"in Polish) and compliment ("komplement" in Polish) paragraph ("akapit in Polish") and  article ("paragraf in Polish") lunatic (szaleniec)  and sleepwalker (lunatyk)
novel(powieśćnowela) andnovella (short story )eventually(ostatecznie) and
possibly ( ewentualnie)fatal(śmiertelny) and terrible calamitous(fatalny)

There are also English words that mean very different things in Britain and America. For example:

1.A rubber

UK: An eraser for a pencil
US : A condom (slang)

2. A casket
UK: Another word for jewellery box
US: Another word for coffin

3. The first floor

One of the most magical place on earth

After I read "The Midnight Palace" by Carlos Ruiz Zafon I totally fell in love with India. With the culture, traditions, music. One of my biggest dream is to travel there and i'm sure that someday I will do it. This place is so different than other countries in Europe and thanks of that it is fascinating to me. Walk the streets of any Indian city and you’ll  see representatives of several of the world’s great faiths, a multitude of castes and outcastes, fair-skinned, turbanned  and dark-skinned people.

One of the most specific place is Mumbai. Is the capital city of the Indian state of Maharashtra and it's called the city that "never sleeps". Its full of exotic animals and many different people like artists etc.

The Indian culture is unique and incredible. Every part of this culture creates an unusual image of India.
Also indian spices like cardamom  are making Indian cuisine one of the best on the world. The spices are used to flavor the food, making each dis…

Hardest language to learn

Learning a new language is a fantastic experience. But it requires time and dedication. Im learning French and English. Its hard sometimes but these languages quite easy to learn, But what about more exotic languages? And what is the hardest language to learn?

1. Mandarin and Japanese  Mandarin is a language within the Chinese language group.  Thanks to  being a tonal language, every sound in Mandarin’s phonetic transcription system pinyin has four distinct pronunciations.
 2. Hungarian Is enough to say that Hungarian has 26 cases!
       3. Finnish The Ugric languages are hard because of the countless noun cases.
       4. Arabic
With the unusual pronunciation and with letters  written in 4 different forms depending on where they’re placed in a word Arabic is hard to learn.

5. And Polish of course! Seven cases, seven genders and very difficult pronunciation. Its almost impossible to foreigners to speak fluently in Polish. Even for Polish people its difficult sometimes :)

Annie Leibovitz

Annie Leibovitz is one my favorite photographer one of the most famous. Her work always impress me and each photo has a story.  Angelina Jolie by Annie Leibovitz

She is a portrait photographer best known for her portraits of musicians, sportspeople and other celebrities. She born October 2 in 1949.  She started her career as staff photographer, working for Rolling Stone magazine. She has been working there for 10 years.
Leonardo DiCaprio by Annie Leibovitz
Her most famous cover for the Rolling Stone was that with John Lennon and Yoko Ono. What is interesting, Leibovitz was the last person who professionally took photo of  Lennon‍ because he was shot and killed five hours later.

Later she started working for Vanity Fair and The Walt Disney Company. Her photos for Vanity Fair were often very controversial- for example that with naked Demi Moor in pregnancy.
For me, covers with the cast of Game of Thrones or Star Wars are quite interesting too.

In 1991, Leibovitz’s collection of more than 20…

My favourite books- English literature
1. The Picture of Dorian Gray

Wrote by Oscar Wilde and published in the July 1890. It become more famous nowadays because of the 2009 adaptation. The Picture of Dorian Gray is set in mysterious  1890s London. Novel tells of Dorian Gray, the beautiful man who because of magical painting is always young. Only the painting has the signs of ageing. Its amazing story about egoism but also a portrait of human corruption.
2. Macbeth
With many adaptations this tragedy of William Shakespeare is one of most famous worldwide. 'Macbeth' is the story of a Scottish general named Macbeth, the Thane of Glamis. His is drivento put himself into power by  witches which he met on his way and his wife. This dramatic story tells us about the desire for power. It is of my favourite Shakespearean plays because its tells about the problem which still exist nowadays.
3.The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh

400 years since the death of William Shakespeare

In fact we know very little about the life of one of the most famous playwright. He was probably born in the year 1564 in Stratford-upon-Avon. What is surprising, he only finished one school-  grammar school.  He probably left it at the age of 14. At the age of 18 William Shakespeare married Ann Hathaway, 8 years older woman. Man was unhappy in love so he left her and went to London. In London Shakespeare turned to writing poetry and there he also created his greatest works and he was close to the theater, he also worked as an actor.

In 1594 Shakespeare joined the Lord Chamberlain's Men, one of the most popular actingtroupe. At his early works he wrote mainly histories and comedies. Later he focused on tragedies and tragicomedies. After 1600, that he wrote the tragedies HamletKing Lear and Macbeth. He died  on April 23, 1616. He left a lasting legacy in the form of 38 plays, 154 sonnets, and two narrative poems. After 400 years Shakespeare is still alive. His plays in theaters ar…
